For the Love of Eru,
Father: Finarfin or Angrod

While it is certain that Orodreth is related to Finarfin in some way or other, the possibilities are that he is either Finarfin's son or his grandson (as the son of Angrod). Nobody can say for sure. After all, Orodreth is a fairly vague character. His stats include being born in Aman and then dying in a battle in Beleriand. Very similar to the stats of pretty much all of his cousins.
At the beginning of the First Age, Orodreth lived on Tol Sirion with his uncle-or-brother Finrod. He probably did something there. So when Finrod left to do th Nargothrond thing, he left Orodreth in charge of Minas Tirith. That went well for a few hundred years until Sauron invaded and kicked Orodreth out. So Orodreth went to Nargothrond to hassle uncle-or-brother Finrod once again. Now you'd think that after the Sauron-Minas Tirith fiasco that Finrod would have known better than to leave Orodreth in charge of Nargothrond. But no. Orodreth did indeed become the king of Nargothrond after Finrod's death. And just a few short decades later, after foolishly following Tśrin's advice to build a bridge for easy fortress access, Nargothrond fell. Orodreth, who had sometime over the course of his time as king become arrogant and stubborn, died in battle. Nobody knows what happened to his body. Again with the vagueness. Quote: "I need none to teach me that Nargothrond stands in peril." from Unfinished Tales |
